I'm planning to complete a full Ironman distance race next year (2011) but need to decide which one to do. My thoughts are to go for one in the latter part of the season possibly at the end of summer or early fall. That way, I can put some Olympic and Half Iron distance tris in the schedule leading up to the full and feel somewhat more prepared.

Physical therapy sounds like a great way to address any ongoing issues with ITB. Do you have a tri coach, too? A coach may help diversify workouts to keep you well-balanced and on a path of continual improvement in technique, strength, and endurance.

Let me know how DC and NYC goes for you! I hear they're both fantastic events and will likely race in them in upcoming seasons.

Impressive stuff. So when's the Iron-man? This year I'm planning on the Sprint for the DC Tri and hoping to work in the Olympic NYC Tri. But I too am having some training issues. Been going to Physical Therapy to work out my ITB. My cycling muscles are way stronger than everything else which pulls the ITB out of alignment. But hope to be back on the bike soon. Don't want to miss the fall cycling season...

I live in Vermont and I purchased a pair of these last year. I trained for a marathon one winter in Jackson Hole, WY and I (all over) seriously regret it!
