Good Lord, man, this is a terrifying read. I’m glad it’s in the past tense and you’re recovering, with a good prognosis. Jesus, Robert, a stroke! How is that even possible? You explained it brilliantly, but my mind has trouble taking it in.

You are one of the kindest people I know. I wish you a steady recovery and many years of radiant health and happiness.

I just heard about this through the grapevine, and I just want to tell you that I’m very happy you are OK and that you haven’t taken a big brain hit.

The only threat that great people like you deserve is the threat of a long life.

Thanks for the words of support everyone. I’m truly lucky and blessed to have friends and family like you to keep me motivated in so many ways. I’ll continue to post progress notes (they’ll be shorter, I promise) as I recover fully from this crazy event.

Really, really glad to hear you’re ok and on the mend Robert! Wow.

My wife’s grandfather suffered two strokes in his lifetime, the second rendering him speechless, which, for him, was a big deal. That you should come out of this pretty much unscathed is great news.

Hi David,

I think there’s some additional (but minimal) setup of a brand new Dahon in the box. My bike was shipped to a Dahon employee in Austin who did the initial assembly, and then I reused the box to send it back to myself. The original assembly, as I was told, was limited to installing the wheels, chain, and probably only a couple of other minor details. The beauty in this bike is its simplicity—there’s very little to assemble or maintain on it.
